the day i saw the video for “yellow” on mtv, i knew it was everlasting love.
being a girl from a small town whose parents only listen(ed) to country, seeing/hearing coldplay for the first time was a breakthrough for me. from that moment on, i made a vow that i would no longer confine myself to the knee slappin’, square dancin, crying in your beer music that we call country. no sir!!!
so, when they came to dallas in 2005 (after i had just moved here) i absolutely HAD to see them. they were good…not the best show i’d ever seen…but good.
last night was my second time to see coldplay, and they blew my freakin’ mind!!!!
best live show EVER! and i don’t say that often.
the show was at the superpages.com center, an outdoor venue. i ended up at the show with most of my best friends. 2 bands opened for coldplay – first up was kitty, daisy, and lewis. cute little band from the UK. next was amadou & miriam….some kick @$$ tribal/afro-pop music.
we waited in such suspense…
waiting so patiently….
2 hours, still going strong….
then we had to start entertaining ourselves.
amy spun for a while…
andy warhol and meeee
joke time…or something. shelby’s so cute in this picture!
liss and brad feelin’ fine.
seas of people.
and finally!!!! we were sitting on the lawn, so some of the pictures aren’t so clear, but we still had a great view.
life in technicolor.
everyone was SO happy.
Chris Martin said in re: to his curly hair
“I feel like Justin Timberlake about 10 years ago…and not nearly as good looking”
yellow!!! and hundreds of yellow balls everywhere!
still so, sooo happy (despite brad’s expression) 😉
then…just when we thought it couldn’t get any better…it did.
there was a small stage set up on the lawn about 100 feet from where we were sitting.
coldplay left the main stage and walked to the lawn and played for us.
a few acoustic songs, then…wait for it….BILLIE JEAN! ahh, so good!
here are a few pics…they were hard to capture.
as soon as they took the small stage, a HUGE rush of people bombarded us.
this isn’t what it looks like- they’re sharing a mic.
the rest of those are really blurry & dark.
after that, they made their way back to the main stage
and played a couple of songs, then came back out for the encore.
lissa, me, amy
at the end, huge canons shot out butterfly confettis evvverywhere.
i ended up with a whole purse full of colorful butterflies. SCORE!
there’s one in my hand. 🙂
and then it was over.
this is all of us, with our post-coldplay glows.
Love my life, love my friends!
